Tweed Heads offers beautiful golden beaches within easy walking distance. The region also boasts some of the worlds best surf breaks, which can be found all along the coast. Heading north from Tweed Heads you will come to Coolangatta, its twin town situated on the beautiful Gold Coast.
Within Tweed Heads there are a number of excellent restaurants of all variety serving fresh, local seafood and produce. Tweed Heads is also a shopper's paradise, with two major shopping centres offering a host of nationwide retail chains.
There are many activities to be enjoyed at Tweed Heads, you can hire a boat and explore the Tweed River, estuary or broadwater with its plentiful wildlife or just enjoy a spot of fishing or crabbing. River cruises and houseboats are also available, right on the Tweed Harbour Motor Inn's door stop.
Take a drive to the Point Danger Lookout, Mt Warning and its rainforests or use one of the many local bus services that will take you to the big theme parks (Sea World, Movie World and Dreamworld) north of the Gold Coast or Minjungbal Aboriginal Cultural Centre which has some interesting exhibitions and displays as well as further attractions to the south.
From Tweed Heads by car it is 15 mins to kingscliffe, 30 mins Bryron Bay to the south, and 20 mins to Surfers Paradise to the north.
